Events, Education & Training
Trusted delivery partner for cycling and active travel initiatives from Bike Doctor to Fleet Management and everything else!
Never Mind The Bike Shops acts as a delivery partner for cycling education, Bike Doctor sessions, and active travel engagement programmes across Greater Manchester and the wider city region. We work with councils, schools, employers, and community organisations to deliver practical, on-the-ground activity that helps active travel initiatives turn into real participation and lasting behaviour change.
A significant strand of this work is rooted in Reddish, developed through long-term partnerships with Broadstones School and previously the Reddish Vale Men in Sheds. From that base, our delivery has extended across the region through work with organisations including Transport for Greater Manchester, Cycling UK, Life Leisure, and Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

Cycling education and training that builds confidence
Our education and training work is hands-on and outcome-led. We focus on giving people the skills and confidence to understand bikes, maintain them safely, and use them as a realistic everyday transport option. Our work is about more than cycling, its about improving peoples lives.
This includes basic and intermediate bike maintenance, bike safety and setup, and fault-finding skills that reduce barriers to riding. Our long-running partnership with Broadstones School in Reddish has been central to developing this approach. Since 2021, students have refurbished donated bikes as part of an alternative education pathway, gaining real skills, confidence, and meaningful experience that can support progression into work, further training, or independent mobility. You can see more about this as well as some of our current recycled bikes here.
Where required, we can tailor delivery or support curriculum-aligned programmes to suit specific audiences and outcomes.
Bike Doctor sessions as an engagement tool
We deliver Bike Doctor sessions with the emphasis on empowerment as part of active travel engagement and promotion. These provide on-site bike checks, minor adjustments, basic repairs, and clear, practical advice — the kind of support that makes people feel confident enough to ride AND learn some basic skills that keep them on the road for longer.
Bike Doctor delivery works particularly well for:
—Active travel and cycling promotion events
—Cycle route or infrastructure launches
—Workplace, campus, and community engagement days
Active travel events and delivery support
We support active travel initiatives by providing a reliable, visible, and practical presence at events and public programmes. This can include pop-up workshops, engagement stands, safety checks, and hands-on support that encourages participation rather than passive interest.
Our role is often to bridge the gap between policy intent and lived experience — helping people interact with active travel initiatives in a way that feels accessible, practical, and relevant to everyday journeys. Our work with Life Leisure epitomises this approach.
Community-led delivery, done properly
Alongside council-led and formal education work, we collaborate with community organisations to deliver cycling activity with genuine local value. Our work in Reddish through Men in Sheds and Broadstones School has shown how sustained, practical projects can support inclusion, skills development, and confidence when they’re embedded locally rather than delivered as one-off interventions.
That community-anchored approach underpins how we work across Greater Manchester.
Safeguarding, professionalism, and standards
Staff leading education, youth-facing work, and Bike Doctor delivery are DBS checked and experienced in working with young people and vulnerable groups. We scope projects properly, bring appropriate tools and equipment, and deliver to clear, agreed standards. Supporting documentation, references, and method outlines are available where required as part of commissioning or procurement processes. We are of course fully insured with up to £2 million public accident insurance.
